Meituan APP privately deleted users' phone album photos? Official response

DoNews reported on March 24 that recently, a large number of Android users have reported that the Meituan App has deleted photos and videos from their phone albums without authorization.

Many Android phone users online have stated that the Meituan App automatically deleted local photos from their phones without any action taken, with the number ranging from hundreds to thousands, and the phone interception prompts clearly pointing to the Meituan App.

Some users claimed that 504GB of photos and videos accumulated over six years were permanently lost, and the files were damaged and unrecoverable.

In response, Meituan's customer service explained that it was due to "abnormal cache clearing prompts caused by conflicts with third-party plugins on certain Android system versions," emphasizing that it does not involve user information leakage and stated that an emergency fix has been implemented.
