Visa surveyed 1,050 consumers traveling to and from Hong Kong, and the report shows that 88% of outbound travelers from Hong Kong indicated they would maintain or increase their travel spending, with related expenses accounting for 23% of overall household spending, reflecting that travel has become a part of life for Hong Kong residents and is no longer seen as a luxury expense; 60% of outbound travelers from Hong Kong start planning their trips 4 to 12 months in advance. Additionally, 61% of outbound travelers from Hong Kong consider reward cashback as a factor when applying for credit cards.

The report mentions that AI has been integrated into the travel planning and payment decisions of Hong Kong residents, with 53% of outbound travelers viewing AI as a practical itinerary planning tool to streamline the planning process, obtain personalized recommendations, and enhance itinerary arrangements; during their trips, 26% expressed willingness to accept AI-assisted decision-making and payments, reflecting an open attitude towards related technologies, although actual application still requires further development.

In terms of itinerary arrangements, the survey indicates that Hong Kong residents visit an average of 2 destinations per trip, with Japan accounting for over half, and Taiwan for over 20%. Additionally, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Australia are also popular destinations
