Chemical Industry Performance Divergence Intensifies, Leading Companies Shine
Data from Choice shows that as of April 14, 164 chemical companies had disclosed their 2025 performance (including Performance Forecast). Among them, 131 companies achieved profitability, and 59 of these profitable firms saw year-over-year growth in net attributable profit to shareholders.
From a segment perspective, companies in coal chemical, potash fertilizer, and pesticide sectors performed notably well, while those in titanium dioxide, organic silicon, and chlor-alkali sectors continued to face significant pressure.
Currently, ongoing geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East are disrupting global energy and chemical supply, further driving up oil prices and accelerating industry clearing out. Compared to the excessively high raw material costs associated with oil-based olefins, the cost advantage of coal chemical is highlighted, being widely favored by the market.
