The People's Bank of China conducted a seven-day reverse repurchase operation in the open market, with a net withdrawal of 1.5 billion yuan in a single day. The Shanghai Composite Index closed at 4,043 points, down 12 points or 0.3%; the Shenzhen Component Index closed at 14,845 points, up 49 points or 0.3%. The Hong Kong Hang Seng Index fell 347 points or 1.3% to 26,046 points, with a turnover of 126.1 billion yuan. The Taiwan Weighted Index fell 342 points or 0.9% to 36,828 points. TSMC fell 2.2%, MediaTek and Delta Electronics rose 1.1% and 0.3%, while ASE Technology and Hon Hai fell 0.9% and 1.5%.

The Japanese Nikkei Average fell 583 points or 1% to 58,935 points. SoftBank and Tokyo Electron fell 2.7% and 3%, while Seiko and Kioxia fell 8.4% and 8.1%. South Korea's KOSPI fell 32 points or 0.5% to 6,193 points. SK Hynix and Doosan Enerbility fell 2.3%, Hanwha Aerospace fell 5.9%, and Samsung Electronics fell 0.9%. India's Nifty 50 Index rose 68 points or 0.3% to 24,265 points. Consumer stocks performed well, with Hindustan Unilever and Tata Consumer Products rising 2.9% and 2%, and automotive stocks like Geely and Suzuki rising 2.1%.

The Australian S&P/ASX 200 Index fell 20 points or 0.2% to 8,934 points. Bank stocks Westpac and National Australia Bank fell 1% and 2.3%. The New Zealand Exchange 50 Index fell 98 points or 0.8% to 12,967 points. The Singapore Straits Times Index fell 11 points or 0.2% to 4,996 points. Singapore Telecommunications and Singapore Airlines fell 1% and 0.9%, while chip testing company ASE Technology rose 2.7%. It was reported that Jardine Matheson plans to acquire Dairy Farm (00001.HK) and may merge with Wellcome, while Dairy Farm fell 0.5% and Jardine Matheson Holdings fell over 1%.

In other Southeast Asian stock markets, Malaysia and Indonesia rose 0.1% and 0.3%, while Thailand and the Philippines fell 0.8% and 0.5%. The Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh stock markets in Vietnam rose 1.7% and 0.4%
