Ford's 2,200 HP All-Electric Mustang Just Blitzed Past Previous Quarter-Mile Record

Ford Motor Co.‘s (NYSE:F) racing division has set a new record for the fastest electric vehicle on the quarter-mile track with a 2,200 hp electric Mustang. Quarter Mile In 6.87 Seconds In a post on the social media platform X on Saturday, Ford’s official racing handle shared the achievement with a video of the car in action on the track. The new record has surpassed Ford’s Cobra Jet 1800, which completed a quarter-mile run in 7.623 seconds in September 2024. The department will be led by Ford's Chief Operating Officer, Kumar Galhotra and will combine the automaker’s EV, Design and Digital departments with its global Industrial System. The reshuffling of personnel and departments also coincided with Ford’s EV chief Doug Chief departing his role after he finishes a transition period within a month. Meanwhile, the company’s recall woes continue into 2026 as Ford recently issued a recall of over 1,392,935 units of its 2015–2017 F-150 trucks due to a transmission fault.
