Moonshot AI is preparing for a Hong Kong IPO within six months, having distributed shareholder resolutions to investors. The startup, valued at over $30 billion in its latest fundraising round, aims to capitalize on market momentum following the release of its advanced Kimi K3 model. With annual recurring revenue reaching $300 million, Moonshot has engaged CICC and Goldman Sachs and dismantled its red-chip structure to facilitate the listing.

Bloomberg reported that Moonshot AI has told investors it's preparing to list in as early as six months, seeking to tap capital markets after its latest model upended industry perceptions of China's capabilities and sent global tech stocks reeling.

The Chinese AI pioneer has distributed a shareholder resolution to investors seeking backing for a Hong Kong listing, people familiar with the matter said. The notification process indicates an IPO could happen within the next half year.

Moonshot is wrapping a fundraising round that may value the three-year-old startup at more than $30 billion. The company judged the time was right after annual recurring revenue hit $300 million in June, up from $200 million in April.

Moonshot had been preparing to debut before releasing Kimi K3 last week, a 2.8-trillion-parameter open-weight model that outperforms all rivals except Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 and OpenAI's GPT-5.6 on overall capability. Artificial Analysis ranked Kimi K3 ahead of Anthropic's Opus 4.8 on some frontier benchmarks, a first for a Chinese open-weight model.

The Beijing-based startup was co-founded in early 2023 by Yang Zhilin, a former Tsinghua University professor who worked at Meta and Google. It has held talks with CICC and Goldman Sachs about an offering.

Moonshot has begun dismantling its red chip structure for a smoother overseas listing process. The company sells tiered chatbot subscriptions and offers technology to enterprise clients, recently launching AI agent Kimi Work.
