Why do I rarely touch options buying? Nine out of ten times you lose!

Options buyers actually have low win rates but high payouts. From a mathematical perspective, the probability of the underlying asset experiencing significant price swings is extremely low. You also need to time it perfectly: the direction must be right, and the price must exceed the strike price minus the premium to make a profit. These conditions are quite demanding. If there's no volatility, the option depreciates daily; you start losing money as soon as you buy it. The so-called 'limited risk' actually means you can lose all the capital you invested. Why do people still do it? Simply because it's easy to operate and has an extremely low barrier to entry.

For options sellers, the 'unlimited risk' is also correct. Because they covet the premium, they choose to sell near-the-money options. If you don't have the ability to take delivery, you're bound to get a margin call and blow up your account.
