Tencent Maps and Niu Technologies recently announced a deep collaboration. Based on a new-generation navigation engine, the two parties jointly launched the HarmonyOS-based smart two-wheeled electric vehicle screen projection navigation solution.
This solution is deeply adapted to the HarmonyOS system, providing a seamless navigation experience for two-wheeled riders from their phones to the vehicle's display.
On April 20th, the related features were fully launched on the Niu app for models supporting Bluetooth screen projection navigation. This move also marks the two parties' industry-first achievement of full-scale openness, leading the smart two-wheeled mobility sector into the "HarmonyOS Era".
01. New Navigation Engine × Deep HarmonyOS Adaptation, A Comprehensive Leap in Riding Experience
This collaboration is built upon Tencent Maps' new-generation navigation engine. This engine natively supports the HarmonyOS ArkTS development language and has achieved significant performance improvements in key areas such as map rendering, route planning, and real-time positioning, resulting in smoother ride initiation, more accurate positioning, and more responsive interaction.
- Smoother Initiation: Map loading and navigation startup speeds are greatly optimized, eliminating waiting.
- More Accurate Positioning: Positioning performance remains stable and reliable even in weak signal scenarios like complex urban roads and under overpasses.
- More Responsive Interaction: Operations like interface swiping, zooming, and switching respond quickly, making it easier to operate while riding.
Through deep adaptation to the HarmonyOS system, Tencent Maps and Niu Technologies have achieved efficient synergy at the system's underlying layer, laying a solid technical foundation for the intelligent navigation of two-wheeled electric vehicles.
02. Seamless Connection Between Phone and Vehicle Display, Riding Safety Upgraded Again
Based on Tencent Maps' screen projection navigation capability, in actual usage scenarios, users only need to initiate navigation through the Niu app, and the navigation information is instantly synchronized to the vehicle's TFT full-color large screen.
During riding, all key navigation information, such as turn reminders, road name display, remaining distance, estimated arrival time, etc. — can all be clearly presented on the vehicle's large screen at a glance.
This solution effectively addresses the pain point of riders frequently looking down at their phone mounts, keeping their line of sight on the road ahead and significantly improving riding safety.
Currently, Niu Technologies has prioritized pushing related service features to its models supporting Bluetooth screen projection navigation, and will cover more newly launched models in the future.
