
NEWTON RES's main hematite supplier has had an accident, and mining activities have been suspended
NEWTON RES (01231.HK) announced that a significant rockfall accident occurred in the main pit of its major iron ore supplier Koolan at the Koolan Island operation area on the evening of October 16. Mining activities in the Koolan operation area have now been suspended, but processing operations for available ore stock will continue. Several shipments originally scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025 will need to be postponed.
Currently, all major business aspects of the group are operating normally, and discussions are ongoing with Koolan regarding its iron ore supply, while assessing the overall impact of the accident on the group's business
