Bank of China International published a research report indicating that Sunny Optical (02382.HK) is expected to meet overall performance expectations in the second half of 2025, primarily benefiting from strong growth in the average selling price of smartphones and good performance in the automotive business. The company is optimistic about its expectations for 2026, suggesting that its market share in high-end smartphone lens modules (HLS) and smartphone camera modules (HCM) will continue to grow.
The report stated that management emphasized the long-term strategic layout in the field of optical communications, including CPO, believing that its core competitiveness in optical precision manufacturing and visual sensing data accumulation will help seize new opportunities in the era of artificial intelligence. The report considers this crucial for potential revaluation.
The report also mentioned that it has raised Sunny Optical's earnings per share forecast for this year and next year by 5% and 3%, respectively, and lowered its target price from HKD 82 to HKD 72, corresponding to a forecasted price-to-earnings ratio of 15 times for next year, maintaining its rating as "Buy."
