The high-quality development seminar of the Chinese crane industry cluster (2026), a highlight of this trade fair, is being held concurrently. How crane equipment companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, can lightweight and precisely integrate into the wave of digital intelligence has become the focus of attention for representatives of participating companies and industry experts.
&#34;Currently, the Chinese crane equipment industry is at a critical window for transformation and upgrading,&#34; pointed out Shi Yong, deputy director of the Mechanical Industry Information Research Institute. The industry faces dual pressures of high-end technology positioning and regional market diversion, as well as real challenges such as large transformation investments, long cycles, and slow results.
&#34;Some companies encounter issues such as mismatched input-output and non-intuitive transformation effects while promoting smart factory construction,&#34; said Li Zhao, manager of the Digital Intelligence Research Institute of CITIC Dicastal Co., Ltd. He believes that lightweight, gradual, and scenario-based upgrades are more in line with the industry's reality.
During the seminar, many attendees unanimously agreed that promoting the digital intelligence of the crane equipment industry must adhere to a problem-oriented, effect-oriented, and cost-oriented approach, following a differentiated path of &#34;small but beautiful, refined and specialized.&#34;
Regarding the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises, Shi Yong believes that it is essential to recognize the resource differences between small and medium-sized enterprises and leading companies, avoid homogeneous investments, and encourage enterprises to focus on pain points in the industrial chain. By achieving breakthroughs through small scene transformations, small module upgrades, and small data connectivity, overall efficiency can be enhanced with lightweight solutions.
As the largest crane equipment industrial cluster in the country, Changyuan has over 1,200 complete machine and supporting enterprises, with a domestic market share exceeding 70%. Small and medium-sized enterprises play a crucial role in the collaboration within the industrial chain.
Qiao Bingzhen, chairman of Changyuan-based Alpha Crane Co., Ltd., believes that small and medium-sized enterprises do not need to pursue &#34;building a complete system&#34; but should be adept at integrating external resources. By collaborating with universities and research institutions, they can connect upstream and downstream data, promote business collaboration and supply chain linkage, and integrate into the digital intelligence landscape at low cost through &#34;leveraging resources, intelligence, and platforms.&#34;
Similarly, Wehua Group Co., Ltd., which has grown locally in Changyuan, is a leading enterprise in the national crane machinery industry. Zhu Jingwei, the executive vice president of the company, stated in an interview that the enterprise will focus on common technical challenges, open R&amp;D platforms, share innovative resources, and promote joint efforts to help small and medium-sized enterprises reduce innovation costs and transformation thresholds, driving the entire industrial chain to leap towards high-end.
&#34;The local government focuses on building platforms, optimizing ecosystems, and reducing costs,&#34; said Li Lianhe, director of the Changyuan Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee. The local area has established more than 10 public service platforms for inspection and testing, R&amp;D innovation, and achievement transformation, promoting resource openness and sharing, continuously reducing R&amp;D, testing, and operation costs for enterprises, and constantly improving the innovation ecosystem to provide lasting momentum for the digital transformation of the crane equipment industry.
Industry insiders believe that the Chinese crane equipment industry is shifting from scale expansion to quality improvement.
