China's factory-gate prices rose for the second consecutive month in April, with the producer price index (PPI) increasing by 2.8% year-on-year, surpassing economists' expectations of 1.7%. This rise follows a prolonged deflationary period. The consumer price index (CPI) also saw a year-on-year increase of 1.2%, driven by higher global oil prices and increased travel demand. Food prices fell by 1.6%, while non-food prices rose by 1.8%. Overall, the data indicates a shift in inflation trends in China amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
