<p><strong>Tesla Inc.</strong> (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO <strong>Elon Musk</strong> has predicted that self-driving cars would dominate roads in the next decade, reiterating his bullish sentiments on artificial intelligence and autonomous driving technology.</p>



<h2>90% Of Driving Will Be Carried Out By AI</h2>



<p>Musk, during a video appearance at the Samson International Smart Mobility Summit in Tel Aviv, predicted that “probably 90% of all distance driven will be driven by the AI in a self-driving car,” he said. He added that human-driven cars will become “quite a niche thing” in the future.</p>

<h2>Elon Musk’s Earlier Predictions</h2>



<p>The billionaire had earlier predicted that the advent of self-driving cars would make it “unusual to see” manually-driven cars. He had also equated owning a manually-driven car to horse riding. Musk said that in the future, “buying a gasoline car that is not autonomous will be like riding a horse while using a flip phone.”</p>



<h2>Tesla’s Robotaxi Crashes</h2>



<p>Despite his bullish comments, Tesla faces fresh scrutiny over its Robotaxi exploits as the automaker reported two crashes of its Supervised Robotaxis in Austin since July 2025. The Robotaxis, which had no passengers on board, except for the safety monitor, were reportedly driven by remote operators under 10 mph when the incidents occurred.</p>



<p>Tesla had reported 5 additional crashes of its Robotaxis in Austin in January, taking the total number of incidents with its service to over 14 since mid-2025 when the service first rolled out. The company’s self-driving exploits have been criticized by experts, who say it is still far behind the likes of <strong>Alphabet Inc.</strong>‘s (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG) <strong>Waymo</strong>.</p>
