Western Balkan energy ministers: Alternative supply routes, regional cooperation are key to energy security

At the Belgrade Energy Forum 2026, Western Balkan energy ministers emphasized the need for alternative supply routes and regional cooperation to ensure energy security amid ongoing crises. They highlighted the importance of aligning with EU standards and developing renewable energy sources. North Macedonia and Montenegro reported increased fuel sales due to lower prices, while investments in green energy are rising. Montenegro aims to enhance its role as an energy bridge to the EU through intergovernmental agreements and infrastructure developments.
