Bitcoin Node Tracking Disrupted as Bitnodes.io Domain Expires
Bitnodes.io, a key platform for tracking Bitcoin nodes, became inaccessible after its domain expired on May 3, 2026. According to NS3.AI, this has left major Bitcoin node counters, including Coin Dance, with outdated data, such as last month's estimate of 23,795 reachable nodes. NewHedge and SatoshiDashboard have also taken their counters offline due to reliance on the Bitnodes API. Meanwhile, alternative tracking platforms are reporting significantly different node estimates.
