Sort out my thoughts now. I was up nearly 50%, now down 10%. What have I gained during this period, and what's my state like.
Profited $25k, which is quite a lot for me, but I was never satisfied and wanted more. So I went crazy speculating on weekly options, leading to all profits being wiped out, and now I'm $4k below my principal.
Throughout the process, I witnessed firsthand how time decay on options accelerated exponentially, with huge ups and downs. Staying up late, waking up late, exercising less, and losing enthusiasm for work. It had a definitely negative impact on my life. I used to be relatively disciplined, but maybe the stock market amplified another side of me—my state has been full of ups and downs.
Multiple times during this period, I thought about quitting after one more trade, mainly because I wanted to quickly recover the last loss and get back to the peak, leading to one wrong step after another.
During last night's big drop, I was also reflecting—can I really withstand the downside risk with my current long calls? Honestly, without the profit cushion, I have no confidence at all because every drop is eating into my principal, and options don’t feel very safe. So I’m wondering whether to cut the options. Of course, by asking this, I’m already leaning toward cutting, but hh, I’m also afraid that if beta drops, the recovery speed will slow down a lot. This mindset also brings me back to the state of wanting to recover losses quickly. 🤔
So I also want to ask the bros for advice on my current state and positions.

Still need to follow the pro-cyclical trend, going against the cycle is counterintuitive and requires stronger conviction
Some friends want to learn my investment approach, so I'll give a beginner's suggestion. If you don't consider industries that go against the cycle to endure the cycle, and want to stand at the forefront of the times, you can start from this angle:
1. Find 10 large companies that have been highly regarded in the market for years and that you're interested in;
2. Among these ten, identify the 1-2 currently most suppressed by the market;
3. Don't rush to buy, don't rush to buy, don't rush to buy! Dig deep into why the market is suppressing them, how much of it is reasonable, how the accounts are calculated, what blind spots exist in the market's suppression, and whether these blind spots can form a basis for reversal;
4. Once everything is clear, find the undervalued price that can be calculated, then start investing, betting based on certainty rather than upside potential.
Examples from my own experience: $Meta Platforms(META.US) in 2022 (privacy data restrictions + TikTok impact); $Tesla(TSLA.US) in 2023 and 2024 (Elon's own bearish antics); $Apple(AAPL.US) in 2024 (iPhone sales pressure and lagging AI capabilities); $ASML(ASML.US) in 2025 (China market + upstream layout + management controlling stock price); $Alphabet - C(GOOG.US) in 2025 (search market threatened by AI, AI capabilities questioned). In my trading system, opportunities come from undervaluation, and risks come from overvaluation. When you've done enough homework and bought cheap enough, how you sell becomes less important.
$CMG 260116 42 Call(CMG260116C42000.US)On earnings day, it's still important to control leverage levels. A $5k option can drop to just a few hundred dollars, beyond recovery. It's best not to buy too many options on earnings day. Just one or two for a try. Hope Amazon has good news$Amazon(AMZN.US)
