CICC released a research report indicating that recent new sanctions by the US and Europe on the Russian oil industry may lead to an expansion of the discount of ESPO/URALS crude oil to Brent, while Middle Eastern crude oil may regain a premium due to substitution demand. The EU will ban the import of Russian oil products, and it is expected that overseas refineries will still have a gap of 8 million tons per year, benefiting East Asian refineries.
