BYD has launched the Atto 3 Evo, an updated version of its electric SUV, addressing previous range and charging time issues. China's electric vehicle (EV) battery installations rose 8.4% year-on-year to 42 GWh in January, despite a 57.2% drop from December. Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries dominated with 32.7 GWh, making up 77.7% of total installations. Ternary lithium batteries accounted for 9.4 GWh, or 22.3% of the total. Power battery exports also increased by 59.3% year-on-year to 17.7 GWh. Overall, China's battery production reached 168 GWh, a 55.9% increase from the previous year, although it decreased by 16.7% from December.

- In January, China's power battery installations reached 42.0 GWh, a year-on-year increase of 8.4%, with LFP batteries dominating at 32.7 GWh.  
- Despite this growth, there was a significant decline of 57.2% compared to December, influenced by a 55.9% year-on-year rise in total battery production to 168.0 GWh.

Total vehicle wholesale sales decreased by 3.2% year-on-year to 2.346 million units. The NEV penetration rate rose to 40.3%, up from 39.0% last year but down from 52.3% in December. The decline in domestic sales is attributed to seasonal patterns and new tax regulations. BYD sold 210,051 NEVs, down 30.11% year-on-year, but its exports increased by 51.47%.
