European stocks rose in early trading as the EU proposed to reduce the tariff-free import quotas for steel and raise the steel tariff to 50%. The pan-European STOXX 600 index increased by 0.5%, and the UK FTSE 100 index reached a record high. Steel stocks performed strongly, with Thyssenkrupp and ArcelorMittal rising by 4.8% and 3.3%, respectively. European steel stocks rose during trading, with ArcelorMittal's stock price increasing by as much as 4.4%, Voestalpine AG rising by as much as 4.7% to a new high in over two years, Outokumpu Oyj increasing by as much as 5%, and SSAB AB rising by as much as 8.7%. The European Union plans to raise steel import tariffs to help domestic producers cope with the impact of factors such as U.S. trade barriers

On August 13th, according to news from ABB China, the ArcelorMittal new energy soft magnetic material 20-roll silicon steel cold rolling mill project has been launched. This is the first project of cooperation between ABB and ArcelorMittal in China, and also the first global cooperation between ABB and the machinery manufacturer Andritz on the 20-roll silicon steel project. After the project is launched, ABB will complete the delivery of equipment within 16 months and start debugging within 20 months. In this cooperation project, ABB will provide silicon material mathematical models, Level 1 (L1) and Level 2 (L2) automation systems, medium and low voltage drives and motors, instruments and meters, as well as project design and debugging services
