US board to determine cause of fatal Maryland bridge collapse
The National Transportation Safety Board will hold a public hearing to determine the cause of the March 2024 collapse of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge, struck by the cargo ship Dali, killing six. The incident led to urgent safety assessments of 68 bridges. The Dali experienced power outages before the crash. The bridge replacement cost is now estimated at $4.3-$5.2 billion, delayed to 2030. Maryland Governor Wes Moore expressed disappointment at the delay. The FBI opened a criminal probe into the collapse.
