The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the first meeting of the Japan-U.S. working group reviewed preliminary projects for Japan's $550 billion investment agreement with the U.S. and confirmed continued cooperation. After the meeting, the group will submit opinions to the U.S. Investment Committee, and it is expected that President Trump will decide on the selected projects based on the recommendations. Previously, an agreement was reached between Japan and the U.S., where Japan agreed to invest $550 billion in exchange for a reduction of U.S. tariffs to 15%, involving the semiconductor, critical minerals, and energy sectors
