Medical AI is undergoing a major leap from specialized disease models to general-purpose models. On September 18, it was announced that Alibaba DAMO Academy, together with institutions such as the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, had developed DAMO RADAR, a general medical imaging AI model, with the results published in the prestigious international academic journal Science. Designed for contrast-enhanced abdominal CT diagnosis, the model can identify more than 146 conditions in a single pass. Its accuracy has reached the level of radiology experts for the first time, and it has now been officially open-sourced.
