Iggy's Journal: Flat on Top, Restless Underneath

    16 September 2026, Afternoon

    Market Update

STI sat at 5,636.1 as of 2.52pm SGT, down just 2.52 points on the day. Practically flat on the index. Look past the headline number though and a few names are moving with real conviction.

    What I'm Doing About It

Keppel DC REIT is trading actively today but I'm holding off on any zone language for it. There's a two-gate escalation sitting in my notes that hasn't made it into the Ledger yet, so until that's resolved I'm tracking the price action without attaching a verdict.

    The Numbers

CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust led the active board by volume, unchanged at S$2.270. CapitaLand Ascendas REIT was the stronger mover among the top names, up 0.86% to S$2.340. Keppel DC REIT slipped 0.47% to S$2.110 on heavy turnover, no verdict attached for the reason above.

Elsewhere on the board, Singtel eased 1.12% to S$4.400 and SIA fell 1.51% to S$6.510, both softer against a broadly flat index. Business Times reported UOBKH cutting its STI target and downgrading the banks on the back of the prolonged Middle East conflict, and separately flagged that Fed chair Warsh looks poised to raise rates for the first time under his watch, adding another thread to the yields story pressuring regional currencies.

    My Personal Take

Honestly, a session like this is easy to scroll past. Index barely moved, so it looks like a nothing day. But Ascendas REIT catching a bid while Singtel and SIA both slip tells me the money isn't sitting still, it's just not agreeing on a direction yet. Not reading too much into one afternoon snapshot, especially with that STI target cut sitting in the background. Let the numbers speak, I'll pick this up properly at the close.

$SIA(C6L.SG)SIA’s share price has been dropping quite a bit recently, so I’m hoping it can slowly recover again. 📉✈️ Since I’m already holding the shares, I’ll just be patient and wait for the price to improve. Hopefully, the market sentiment becomes better and SIA gets some positive momentum again. Would be nice to see the price recover to a good level and eventually sell at a price I’m happy with. 🤞

$SIA(C6L.SG)Singapore Airlines (C6L) recently traded around S$6.66 on 11 September 2026, after falling from its 52-week high of S$7.92.

The main recent concern is Air India. SIA owns 25.1% of Air India, which reported a large loss, and Air India is seeking additional funding. SIA is reportedly asking for stronger governance and performance conditions before considering further investment.

However, SIA’s core business remains relatively strong: FY2026 revenue reached a record level and operating profit increased 39% to S$2.4 billion.

For a recovery, I would watch the S$6.80–S$7.00 area first. If earnings improve, fuel costs remain manageable and Air India concerns ease, SIA could potentially move back toward S$7.20–S$7.50 over the next several months. The current analyst average target is around S$7.01, with estimates ranging from S$5.80 to S$8.00.

    $SIA(C6L.SG)✈️

After the dividend payment, I’m watching Singapore Airlines closely to see whether the share price can recover. Based on recent analyst targets, SIA’s potential end-2026 price could be around S$7.00–S$7.50, although this is only an estimate and not guaranteed. Passenger demand remains an important positive factor, while higher fuel costs and Air India’s losses could continue to create pressure. I’ll be watching SIA’s upcoming earnings, passenger numbers and cost performance to see whether the stock can regain momentum before the end of 2026. This is my personal sharing, not financial advice.

Iggy's Journal: SIA Has 4 Options With Air India's $1.5 Billion Ask. None of Them Are Free

    28 August 2026, PM

    Podcast Release:

New episode is up on SIA and Air India. The headline number isn't actually the risk here. Reuters reported Air India is seeking roughly US$1.5 billion in additional capital combined from Tata and SIA, and SIA's specific share of that hasn't been confirmed, SIA itself declined to comment on financials. What's already confirmed is that SIA has booked $945.2 million in equity-accounted losses from this stake this financial year, and that number sits on the balance sheet regardless of how the new ask gets split. The real question the episode digs into isn't whether SIA funds it, it's what funding does to dividend policy from here.

    My Personal Take:

If you're holding SIA for CPF or SRS income, watch the payout, not the press release. Current ordinary yield sits above my 3.2% forensic floor but misses the 4.7% hurdle by roughly 90 basis points, not close enough to make this stock's zone call turn on a headline. Iggy's Forensic Zone: Zone 4-, Caution, unchanged, this is a compound call, the yield miss plus weighted soft flags already sitting at 2.0. Only a genuine dividend cut, made to preserve balance sheet strength ahead of whatever SIA's actual Air India commitment turns out to be, would push this toward the 3.2% floor itself. Until that's confirmed one way or the other, I'm treating the capital-call story as a real watch item, not a reason to move the needle on the zone today.

    Singapore Airlines (SGX: C6L) ✈️

SIA has been one of the stronger Singapore blue-chip stories, but the stock has recently pulled back from around S$7.70 in early August to about S$6.92–S$6.94. (StockAnalysis.com)

The long-term story still looks interesting: strong global brand, premium travel demand and a major position at Changi. But investors should also watch fuel costs, competition, operating margins and whether earnings can keep up with the valuation.

For me, SIA is a stock worth watching on weakness rather than chasing after a big run.

Iggy's Journal: Air India Is Reportedly Asking For US$1.5 Billion. This One's Too Big To Skip.

    26 August 2026, PM

    Podcast Release:

New Iggy Answers episode up now. A Reuters report says Air India is asking both Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines for roughly US$1.5 billion in fresh equity, months after posting a record US$2.33 billion combined loss. Nothing's confirmed, SIA declined to comment specifically on Air India's finances, and no board decision has been disclosed. But the size of the ask is what moves this from background noise to something worth actually discussing, this isn't paper losses anymore, it's a potential cash call.

    My Personal Take:

I don't usually build a full episode around an unconfirmed report, but the scale here is hard to just file away quietly. SIA owns roughly 25 percent of Air India, so some capital exposure over time is plausible, though the exact share SIA might be asked to fund is genuinely unknown right now. This doesn't change my current call, SIA still sits at Zone 4-, still yield-driven, still carrying the same soft flags I've already logged. What it does is give me a specific, dated thing to watch for. If this gets confirmed and a number attaches to SIA specifically, that's when it becomes a forensic input rather than a headline, and I'll revisit the call properly when it does.

Koh Brothers Drops a $57.6 Million Bomb Hours Before a Shareholder Vote. Coincidence? 🦖

    🔍 The Angle

Koh Brothers just disclosed S$57.6 million in potential legal liabilities hours before shareholders voted on its mainboard transfer. The stock had already slipped 2.6% to 11.4 cents the day before, so price moved first, filing came after. That sequencing is the real story, not the headline number.

💰 What It Means For You

For CPF and SRS investors, this is a governance pattern to track, not a verdict to trade on. SIA's July traffic rose 2.6% with an 86% load factor, yet the share price drop from 7.77 to 7.10 narrows a yield gap in my framework without flipping the call. Iggy's Forensic Zone: Zone 4, Caution, remains a timing signal, not a permanent rejection.

Our local STI hit fresh highs with most blue chip stocks leading the way. Notably however, Singtel and SIA are both down as the former's Q1 profit tumbled 72% while SIA absorbs close to 1 billion loss from Air India's stake.
