~Investment Thesis

Patience pays off! After enduring a temporary floating loss, Netflix has finally broken back above water and turned green. With its strong content lineup and expanding ad-tier revenue, the long-term story remains intact, but managing capital efficiency is now my primary focus.

~My Strategy & Execution

Now that the position is out of the red, my next step is to execute a Covered Call strategy. By selling Call options against my shares, I can immediately start generating steady option premium (rent income) while holding the stock safely.

~Risk Management & Next Steps

This Covered Call setup creates a win-win exit plan: if the stock stays below the strike price, I keep the premium income to lower my cost basis, if it gets called away, I gladly lock in both the option premium and capital appreciation. Strict trading discipline in action!

Context: Trump again thought that he will strangle Iran by imposing what he dubbed as mother of all economic sanction. Before the Iran, Iran's GDP was at $475.25 billion in 2024 then fell to $420–$460 in 2025. Inflation was high at 40-50%, it was during early 2026 that mass protests begin to erupt and caused 30+k civilians killed by Iran authorities. It was after this that Trump attacked Iran thinking that after killing it's top leaders, the civilians will take this opportunities to force a regime change. It did did not happen. There might be dissidents but it were not enough to take down Iran government and neither will the mother of all economic sanction force Iranian to topple their government.

My trade: maintain, wait and see

Takeaway: Economic sanction is nothing to Iranian who are willing to sacrifice themselves for the country and their belief.

$Netflix(NFLX.US) Netflix shares sit 7% above their 20-day moving average of $73.72 and 5.6% above their 50-day average of $74.66, a sign the stock’s near-term trend has improved since its low in July. On the other hand, Netflix remains 5.5% below its 100-day moving average of $83.39 and 11.3% below its 200-day average of $88.88. Netflix will need to push back above key longer-term averages before the rebound can be considered a genuine trend change rather than a bounce within a larger downtrend. Despite that longer-term overhang, Netflix shares have climbed close to 15% over the past month, adding to the case that buyers have started stepping back in since the summer low and suggesting the bottom could be in. A move above the longer-term moving averages would help the case for bulls. Billionaire investor Bill Ackman disclosed last week that Pershing Square Capital Management has built a fresh 3.15 million-share stake in Netflix, now equal to 4.9% of the firm’s portfolio. It’s a notable about-face for Ackman, whose firm poured more than $1 billion into Netflix back in 2022 only to walk away with a loss north of $400 million after subscriber growth stalled out for the first time in years. I personally started buying after their stock split before the continued downwards pressure, and hence is still under water. However, I believe that long term Netflix will still remain one of the key leaders in the industry and patience is crucial. @Captain's Treasure

Indonesia has been giving headache to Wilmar again. In May, they were accused of under invoicing as much as 50% by the government. Later Kalimantan faced with decreased rain fall in Kalimantan resulting in lower yield of palm oil. Kalimantan has 80% of Wilmar oil palm plantation. The short fall will benefit Indonesia palm oil competitor like Malaysia. The quarterly earnings season has been in full swing over the past week. Despite similar performance, it's a world apart from July.

This week, the focus is on Thursday's FOMC meeting. We've noticed the 10-year US Treasury yield oscillating at high levels and could break out upward at any moment.

This is a risk factor.

Sea just jumped 15% on Aug 11 because of a superb Q2 revenue which is US$7.79 billion, exceeding analyst expectation. It was a fantastic recovery from a disappointing Q4Y25 on Mar which make this stock sank by 23%. But looking ahead, Sea need to overcame fierce competition from PDD Holdings who is handling Temu and Pinduoduo ecommerce platform. They are aggressively selling goods directly from manufacture and offer free international shipping even for very low value item. But PDD share is also suffering with a drop of 17% YTD. $Netflix(NFLX.US) Netflix jumped approximately 3% after Bill Ackman revealed he was back in the stock. Ackman bought Netflix during the brutal 2022 selloff, then dumped the position months later at a loss. Now he is taking another swing after Netflix crashed roughly 50% from its June 2025 high. The difference? Netflix today is a much stronger cash machine than the company Ackman walked away from four years ago. Netflix has more than 325 million subscribers, nearly twice Disney+ and HBO Max combined. But subscriber count is no longer the most interesting number. Margins are. Netflix's operating margin has climbed from 21% in 2021 to roughly 31.5%, while annual cash content spending has increased only around 2%. That is serious operating leverage. Advertising revenue is also closing in on $3 billion this year, opening another monetization engine on top of subscriptions. Netflix does not need explosive subscriber growth anymore. It needs to keep extracting more dollars from the audience it already owns. @Captain's Treasure

Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz continue to escalate, with shipping traffic at a three-month low and conflicting signals from both sides regarding an end to the conflict; oil prices still fell 2.1% to $87.07.

Gold saw slight gains, while the US dollar remained weak.

The situation is not optimistic; hold some cash and keep safe-haven precious metals on hand for emergencies.

The inflation numbers are out and both CPI and PPI are looking favourable. The markets like them and are trending higher as a result.

The overall market is taking the inflation numbers in its stride and liking it. Price action leans bullish and the number of bears still being around and vocal gives it an even more bullish nuance.

Reddit is joining the S&P500 finally after months of being on the potential list. The stock gained double digits as investors take in the news positively. On other news, superinvestor Bill Ackman opened his position on Netflix once more, stating that Netflix "has won the streaming wars" and is currently undervalued following his exit in the company years back.

With CPI and PPI out of the way, it is back to earnings for the remaining companies. Interesting to see if there will be a pullback from all time highs or we go higher from here.

The market reaction reflects a combination of index-related demand and improving macro sentiment. Reddit’s S&P 500 inclusion could support near-term institutional buying, although valuation and user-growth risks remain. Softer-than-expected PPI reduced concerns about renewed Fed tightening and supported record equity levels, though underlying inflation remains above target. Meanwhile, Ackman’s Netflix investment provides a positive sentiment catalyst and signals renewed confidence in its long-term earnings potential after his earlier exit.

I still like Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (SGX: BS6) fundamentally, but at today’s ~S$4.66 I would not chase it with a large purchase. The price has moved very quickly after the excellent 1H26 results. As of 10:51am today, it was around S$4.66, already close to its recent high.

$Netflix(NFLX.US) nice full body stick on the daily as we head to the close. Gap up holding great. 78.44 next level I am watching. May inch up a couple of stops if/when it hits.
