Intel CEO: It will take Intel a long time to establish a competitive foundry business, Nikkei Asia reports, citing CEO Lip-Bu Tan, who said it took TSMC 10 – 20 years to become the world’s biggest chip foundry.

"From a foundry's point of view, Intel had to look at the longer-term horizon, and it's always very important to have very strong government involvement supporting," he said, adding that the business could become a growth driver "if we do it right," but "it takes time." $Intel(INTC.US) $Taiwan Semiconductor(TSM.US) #semiconductors

Rumor: Google’s next-gen AI silicon, the TPU v9, may face delays due to low yields on glass substrates used in advanced packaging, DigiTimes reports. The Google–MediaTek project was originally slated for mass production in late 2027 and volume shipments in 2028. This rumor is the latest sign of trouble on the advanced packaging side, with the companies reportedly making design adjustments to resolve the issue. $Alphabet(GOOGL.US) $Intel(INTC.US) $Taiwan Semiconductor(TSM.US) #mediatek #semiconductors

    $Intel(INTC.US)

Context: intel is facing downward pressure again. In the past month, the shares have dropped ~17%. All is not well with its foundry business. Rumor has it that the agreement with Tesla to build Terafab is unravelling and Tesla is considering TSMC as a partner instead. TSMC is also ready to absorb any customer from Intel if Intel can't deliver its own advanced packaging called, EMIB-T. Intel foundry is persistently making losses.

My trade: reduce Intel stock in my portfolio

Takeaway: All eyes on Oct 29th to see Q3 earnings result whether it can reverse this bearish trend. Lip Bu Tan, please buck up! $NVIDIA(NVDA.US)$Netflix(NFLX.US)

    Why $VanEck Semiconductor ETF(SMH.US)Is Still A Buy?

🌟🌟🌟The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index has just wrapped up its 8th straight losing session. To make matters worse, hedge funds have sold off AI stocks for 5 consecutive sessions. Headlines are screaming "AI bubble". But let's pause.

    Is $VanEck Semiconductor ETF(SMH.US)still a buy?

Yes it is because this isn't a structural collapse of AI. It is a textbook inventory and valuation sanity check.

SMH has taken a 9.70% haircut over the past week, testing crucial technical floors around the USD 537 to USD 539 mark.

The Culprits: A nasty cocktail of debt financing drama at AI cloud companies like Coreweave, sticky inflation spiking capital costs and macro jitters.

The Smart Money Exit: Hedge funds are fleeing to lock in profits, considering SMH was still up 44.6% YTD.

Why Is SMH Still A Buy?

SMH's foundation still remains rock solid for the following reasons:

    The Infrastructure Inertia:

Data centers do not stop construction midway because of a bad week on Nasdaq. Billions of Capex are already locked in. Power contracts are signed. GPUs are ordered.

    The Monopoly Board:

SMH is concentrated in the crown jewels of tech: $NVIDIA(NVDA.US)$Taiwan Semiconductor(TSM.US)and $Broadcom(AVGO.US). They are the money printing moat heavy monopolies. If you believe the world needs more computation tomorrow than it does today, you buy the chipmakers.

    Overdone Bubble Fears:

Analysts noted that this pullback is pricing in a catastrophic tech crash that is not actually supported by the high enterprise demand.

    Concluding Thoughts

When Wall Street is panicking, the long term compounding machines go on sale. Keep you head cool while everyone else runs for the exit.

    As Warren Buffett famously said:

"The stock market is a device for transferring money from the impatient to the patient".

Dear fellow investors, do you agree with the Oracle of Omaha?

TSMC’s 2nd fab in Kumamoto will open in December, 2028 and use 3nm production technology instead of the 6/12nm nodes originally planned, media report, adding the new 3nm production plan calls for 6,000 wafer per month (wpm) for phase 1 capacity.

-TSMC’s total capex investment in Fabs 1 & 2 in Kumamoto is now seen over US$23 billion, up from a US$20B estimate from 2024.

-A Japan govt subsidy for the 1st phase of investment has been set at ¥645.15 billion yen (US$4.1B), while total government support could meet or exceed the original ¥732 billion approved by Tokyo.

-TSMC also modified the 1st fab production plan to focus solely on 22/28nm (drop 12/16nm) at 45,000 wpm output, from 55,000 originally. $Taiwan Semiconductor(TSM.US) #semiconductors #Japan

Samsung has accepted Nvidia’s request to have TSMC manufacture the base die for NVHBM (Nvidia’s custom HBM based on next-gen HBM4E), a concession to the world’s biggest HBM buyer, media report. Samsung joins SK Hynix and Micron in using TSMC’s 3nm base die to ensure consistent performance and reduce validation work across suppliers.

Among the three big memory chip makers, only Samsung has historically supplied its own base die for HBM and will continue to do so for standard products and other clients. It is also validating whether it can supply its own version of the NVHBM base die in case demand exceeds TSMC’s capacity. $NVIDIA(NVDA.US) $Taiwan Semiconductor(TSM.US) $SK Hynix(SKHY.US) $Micron Tech(MU.US) $SSNLF #Samsung #semiconductors

Feels like shorting Taiwanese AI stocks is probably a good hedge right now.

Positioning remains extremely elevated = highly exposed to short-term downside.

Just look at how the market responded to $Taiwan Semiconductor(TSM.US)'s awesome earnings/guidance....-2.5%.

Holding or walking away with losses all depends on how urgently you need the liquidity. My personal investment motto is to never actualised a loss due to market or news cycles, ride it out.

I am so concerned on the growing debt. Even though the debt is shown with high spending and low revenue, need to see all the available cash.
