I saw a post on Weibo from someone in the auto supply chain, probably related to glass. He's quite enthusiastic about test-driving cars and sharing insights about different automotive glass brands and the industry's inside stories. I followed him to learn more.
But I noticed that most consumers hardly pay attention to the brand or materials of car glass. According to him, some manufacturers use high-quality designs and brands but don't sell well, while some best-selling cars cut corners with cheaper glass. At least based on his description, you can tell which suppliers are widely recognized and prioritized in the industry and which ones truly have technical expertise. It's a classic case of 'amateurs watch the show, professionals watch the craft.'
After reading for a while, I learned that he speaks highly of Fuyao Glass and a non-listed company called Guangyi Technology, praising their technical capabilities and quick response. Especially in meeting the demands of new energy brands—like solutions for autonomous driving (cameras, HUDs, UV protection, etc.)—they're not lagging behind foreign competitors and are even surpassing them.
From his description, he works at a foreign-owned factory in Guangdong, with clients like Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen. But now, traditional fuel car manufacturers there are struggling, especially in Foshan—Volkswagen and Honda are doing poorly. Car factories, transmission plants, and surrounding suppliers are all in dire straits, with each day getting harder.
