$Rocket Lab(RKLB.US) has achieved several important milestones in the past six months:
1. NASA Mars Sample Return Research Contract: In October 2024, Rocket Lab received a contract from NASA to develop an economical and rapid architecture for returning samples collected by the Perseverance rover from Mars to Earth. The plan aims to advance the Mars Sample Return (MSR) mission by utilizing Rocket Lab's Neutron rocket and other spacecraft projects.
2. Archimedes Engine Development: In May 2024, Rocket Lab completed the assembly of its 3D-printed, reusable Archimedes engine, designed for the upcoming Neutron launch vehicle. The engine has begun intensive testing activities at NASA's Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, marking a critical step towards the first flight of Neutron, expected as early as mid-2025.
3. Neutron Rocket First Flight Rescheduling: Originally planned for late 2024, the first launch of the Neutron rocket has been postponed to mid-2025. This adjustment allows for comprehensive testing and development, including the Archimedes engine, to ensure mission success.
4. Synspective Launch Agreement: In July 2024, Rocket Lab signed its largest Electron launch contract to date with Japanese Earth observation company Synspective. The agreement covers 10 dedicated launches between 2025 and 2027, building on four successful missions since 2020.
