The KOSPI index of the South Korean stock market opened down 2% this morning, with the decline slightly narrowing thereafter. Asian stock markets showed calm performance, with the HSI opening down 24 points or 0.1%, reporting at 19,722 points.
In the chaos in South Korea, regional chip stocks saw price adjustments. Some large stocks, such as chip stocks Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, experienced declines. In contrast, Hong Kong chip stocks rose this morning, with $SMIC(00981.HK) opening up 4% and $HUA HONG SEMI(01347.HK) opening nearly 3% higher.
