$Newmont(NEM.US) rose slightly, $ZIJIN GOLD INTL(02259.HK) basically didn't move. When gold prices are consolidating at high levels, gold mining companies just quietly follow along. $LAOPU GOLD(06181.HK) also barely moved, but it operates on a branded jewelry logic, which is a different line from pure mining companies. Its price movements depend more on consumer-side demand. The emotional premium from that gold price surge has been largely exhausted recently, so mining companies are just grinding along now 🙄
