Midnight Ninja$QQQ 260702 724 Put(QQQ260702P724000.US)
I did two rounds of trading back and forth today. I don't want to bet on whether it will rise or fall later. I really don't understand it. There's no choice but to make money within my circle of competence.
Score: 7.6. You actually did two segments this time:
First segment: Call
Buy:
- Bought 1 Call at 1.86
- Bought 1 Call at 2.04
Sell:
- Sold 2 Calls at 2.18
Profit: 436 - 390 = +46 USD
Return: +11.8%
Second segment: Put
Buy:
- Bought 1 Put at 1.81
Sell:
- Sold 1 Put at 2.26
Profit: 226 - 181 = +45 USD
Return: +24.9%
Total P&L
Total Profit: +91 USD
Total Investment: 390 + 181 = 571 USD
Overall Return: +15.9%
Chart Analysis
1h: QQQ rebounded to the 735-736 resistance level and then fell back. The overall larger timeframe is range-bound, not a one-way trend.
5m: First pulled up from around 720 to 730, then failed in the 729-730 area and fell back, subsequently breaking below 726/725.
So the day was actually: first trading the rebound with Calls, then trading the failed breakout with Puts. The thinking is sound.
First segment Call score: 7/10
Strength: You traded Calls during the rebound from around 720, with a directional basis.
Deduction: The second contract added at 2.04 was a bit of a chase. Selling at 2.18 and exiting quickly shows you knew the overhead resistance was near and the upside was limited. This exit was correct.
Second segment Put score: 8.3/10
This one is better.
QQQ surged to 729-730 and then failed, falling back below the moving average. The Put followed the failed breakout. 1.81 -> 2.26, +24.9%, very standard.
Overall score: 7.6/10
Good profit. The best part is: You didn't have a one-sided obsession. After profiting from the Calls and seeing the structure weaken, you were able to execute the switch to Puts.
Deduction points:
1. Switching directions back and forth on the same day can lead to overtrading.
2. The second Call contract was a slight chase.
3. After making a total of +91 USD, it's best not to continue trading today.
Today's conclusion: First half 7 points, second half 8.3 points, overall 7.6 points.
If you stop here today, this was a very good set of intraday trades.
