It’s easier than ever to use ChatGPT - and in the future other third-party AI models installed via the App Store - inside of Siri and the Siri app. All the prep work is in there for Siri to be a platform for both Apple’s own AI and rival options.

The important details:

- Siri AI for developers in English today; all users later this year in beta.

- Siri AI is NOT yet coming to the EU given the regulatory issues there.

- Siri AI and new Apple Intelligence features are also not yet coming to China for similar reasons.

Apple’s coming AI announcements include major reversals, with executives as recently as last year shunning the idea of a chatbot and panning the idea of AI use in photography. Now both are coming.

Also in Power On: Early work on iOS 28 and macOS 28 has kicked off. iOS 28 is codenamed Bell, while macOS 28 is Poppy. The duo is referred to inside Apple as “Boppy.” For comparison, iOS 27 is Rave, macOS 27 is Fizz (Rizz).
