The first payment institution exits this year as payment licenses continue to "decrease"
The People's Bank of China recently updated the list of revoked licensed institutions, with Henan Jubao Payment Co., Ltd. having its payment license revoked, becoming the first payment institution to exit the market in 2026. Currently, the number of third-party payment licenses has decreased to 162, with 109 licenses revoked, of which more than 80% are prepaid card business licenses.
