SK Hynix had its worst day ever in Seoul, down 15% in one session, and it barely made the SG news. same memory supercycle everyone loves, but the second ASP growth slowed the stock got wrecked. lesson: those locked HBM contracts cap how fast earnings can jump when demand runs hot 😮‍💨

SK Hynix ADRs down around 13% and it reports next week on the 22nd. the whole memory complex is pricing in a glut that the HBM numbers just do not show yet. i play the group through the basket $Roundhill Memory ETF (DRAM.US)$ so no single 13% session wrecks me. the SK Hynix earnings on the 22nd will either confirm the shortage or the bears win. holding into it, not chasing.

I foresaw the market would decline, but I didn't expect it to happen in July. It came so quickly, and the front-running behavior was so severe. Never try to outsmart the market; just be like Forrest Gump. If you've bought in, just hold on; it will definitely come back. If you can't hold a stock, you shouldn't hold it for even a minute.

Markets at new highs with leaders getting sold is a classic late-cycle signal. If enterprises pause AI spend because ROI isn’t there yet, memory orders get cut first. Cooler inflation also means less urgency for risk. This -9% could be the first crack before a deeper semi correction.

The buying opportunity everyone is waiting for is here at last. Selling off because ‘spending more to meet demand’. Isn’t demand a good thing? The market is quite short sighted some times but then again narratives are just constructed to explain markets which actually do its own things.

South Korea's margin plays backfire for their traders and some are even forced to liquidate their accounts to stop the losses. This effect spirals into the US market as well, causing many big names and high beta stocks to drop massively. Heading into earnings season, we have also seen barely hitting analysts' expectations is not enough - investors are pricing in not just the fundamentals but also the future forward guidance.

I’m glad I exited my small gold position at a loss. If I had held on, I would be even worse off now. While some people believe in holding a bit of gold for diversification, I don’t think it works for me as it doesn’t pay dividend.
