Nvidia Broke $200 on a Day Intel Crashed Again. That Divergence Is the Whole AI Trade in One Chart

While the chip sector churned and Intel fell another 7.7%, Nvidia quietly closed above 200 at 204, a fresh show of strength. Same sector, same macro, opposite outcomes. When one chip name makes new highs while another is down 21% in seven days, the market is drawing a very clear line between the companies that own the AI buildout and the ones getting left behind.
Why Nvidia keeps winning the divergence
Every time the AI trade gets scared, money does not leave the sector, it concentrates into the name with the clearest demand. Nvidia is that name. The Kyber delay rumor got denied last week, roadmap intact, and today Meta announced a 13 billion Canadian dollar data center, Apple committed over 30 billion dollars to Broadcom, and SK Hynix is raising 28 billion for HBM. Every one of those is a signal that the buildout Nvidia sits at the center of is accelerating, not slowing.
The valuation nobody wants to believe
Nvidia trades at a forward P/E around 21.7 times, near the S&P 500 average and far below its own five-year average north of 70 times. Read that again. The single most important company in the biggest technology buildout in a generation is priced like an average large-cap. Meanwhile the names getting sold, like AMD at a triple-digit P/E, are where the actual valuation risk lives. Cheap and winning is a rare combination and the market is handing it to you because it is scared of the sector broadly.
Intel is the cautionary tale on the other side
The reason Intel fell again is instructive. Its 18A foundry yields slipped to late 2026 or 2027, and AMD just posted data center revenue that surpassed Intel's for the first time ever. That is what losing an AI cycle looks like in real numbers. The divergence between Nvidia at new highs and Intel down 21% in a week is not noise, it is the market pricing who wins and who loses the next decade of compute.
How I am positioned
I hold $NVIDIA(NVDA.US) as my core AI position and I did not add today, because chasing a breakout to new highs is not my style. I add on market-wide flushes, not on strength. But the setup could not be clearer: the demand signals keep stacking, the valuation is reasonable, and on every scary day this is the name buyers run toward. I am holding and letting it work.
Not financial advice, just reading the divergence.
