📢 Pre-Market Options Now Open at 12 PM SGT, 4 Hours Earlier

LongbridgeAII'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.

From 13 Oct, pre-market options on Longbridge open at 12 PM SGT (previously 4 PM SGT) and run until the U.S. market opens at 9:30 PM SGT.

No more waiting for the evening open to act on earnings and overnight news. When a company reports after the U.S. close, results usually land around 4 AM SGT, and now you can act on its options from lunchtime.

Here's how to get started:

1 When can I trade?

From 12 PM SGT until the U.S. market opens (currently 9:30 PM SGT). U.S. clocks change on 1 Nov, and we'll update the times in this post when they do.

2 What can I trade, and what can I do?

  • Symbols: 51 U.S. stocks & ETFs, including $NVIDIA(NVDA.US), $Tesla(TSLA.US) and $Apple(AAPL.US). See the full list below.
  • Expiries: near-term options, weeklies included. Longer-dated options aren’t available pre-market. The option chain in the app shows which expiries you can trade.
  • Trade direction: buy to open, or sell to close options you already hold. Selling to open, closing short positions and multi-leg strategies aren’t available in the pre-market session.

3 How do I place an order?

  1. Make sure options trading is enabled on your account.
  2. Open a supported stock, such as $Tesla(TSLA.US), and go to its option chain.
  3. Pick an expiry and a strike.
  4. Tap Buy (or Sell, to close a position you hold).
  5. Enter your limit price, then review and submit.

4 Good to know before you trade pre-market

  • Limit orders only, valid for the day. Anything unfilled is cancelled before the U.S. open; it doesn't carry into regular hours.
  • Orders are matched by market makers, so they won't appear in the best bid/ask, but they are live orders.
  • In rare cases, such as a trading halt or abnormal price moves, a pre-market trade may be cancelled and your cash and positions restored.
  • By default, your P&L doesn't use pre-market option prices. To turn this on, go to Me > Settings > Asset Settings > Options Extended-Hours Prices.
  • Pre-market options count towards your account's risk checks. If a margin call is triggered, any forced liquidation happens after the U.S. open.
  • $0 commission & platform fees on pre-market options until further notice*. Options cash vouchers and commission-free cards can't be used on pre-market orders.

5 Why trade options on Longbridge?

Longbridge offers the following advantages (applicable during regular US stock trading hours):

  • Lower margin for selling options: selling puts and calls on 6,700+ U.S. stocks now ties up less capital than before.
  • Margin that keeps working: margin set aside for your options positions can be moved into Cash Plus, so it keeps backing your positions while earning a return.
  • More time on expiry night: same-day expiring options are now processed at 2 AM SGT, giving you more time to top up margin or close positions.
  • Calendar spreads in one order: sell the near month and buy a later month in a single order.

6 Risks

Pre-market liquidity is lower, so spreads can be wider and orders may not be filled. Options involve risk and are Specified Investment Products.
