Rate Of Return$IBM(IBM.US) A former bank COBOL dog here to ramble a bit. IBM is far more than just COBOL. Even taking COBOL alone, it's a whole set of software and hardware systems, including mainframe/DB2/JCL/various scheduling systems/minicomputers/tape storage, etc.
Each node has a well-tested blame-taking mechanism that has been validated over a long period to ensure stability.
AI is certainly powerful, but I think it's more likely that AI will be absorbed into this system to improve efficiency, rather than directly replacing and migrating it. Even if replacement and migration is the general direction, it can't be done by AI in a short time.
