Memory and optical-chip stocks outperformed despite broad market weakness, reflecting growing expectations that AI infrastructure demand could intensify memory shortages. Musk’s comments and US concerns over Apple’s potential China sourcing further supported the sector. Meanwhile, the S&P 500, Nasdaq and Dow declined modestly as renewed shipping uncertainty and oil prices above $90 raised concerns over inflation and economic risks. The divergence highlights strong AI-related demand amid a more cautious macro backdrop.

$Uber Tech(UBER.US) Stock Looks Cheap.
Here's Why. By Andrew Bary 08/14/2026 - Barron'sRobo-taxis make up just 1% of U.S. rides. But the disruption threat of autonomous vehicles to Uber Technologies has become an obsession on Wall Street -- and has depressed the value of the company's stock. Investors, however, seem to be overreacting to the robo risk -- and an apparent fraying in Uber's relationship with Waymo, the leader in autonomous vehicles. The fact is that Uber remains dominant in ride-hailing, is the market leader in food delivery, and has an autonomous-vehicle strategy that doesn't rely on Alphabet's Waymo. Uber's stock, now trading around $76, looks appealing at nearly its lowest valuation since going public in 2019. "Valuation is increasingly disconnected from its fundamentals," wrote investor Bill Ackman last week in an investor letter, noting that the company's earnings are expected to rise 35% this year. Uber is one of Ackman's largest holdings. His firm, Pershing Square, owned over $2 billion of Uber on March 31. The stock is down 7% year to date, and up 69% since its initial public offering at $45 a share. That's way below the returns on the S&P 500 index and technology leaders like Apple,If you wanted to copy his trades, good luck with that

Despite reporting record Q3 revenue and EPS, shares continue to sell off — the market is pricing in conservative Q4 guidance rather than celebrating the beat. At ~34x forward earnings, the valuation leaves minimal room for error, and net institutional outflows of -\$88.75M signal caution. Volume ratio at 0.77 suggests below-average participation, while the 52-week high of \$344.27 now sits 12% overhead as resistance.
Whether the -8.9% pullback finds support near \$300 or if guidance concerns push it lower toward the \$280–290 zone.

0813 | Dolphin Research Focus: 🐬 Macro/Industry. 1) US Jul CPI rose 3.4% YoY vs. 3.5% prior, with core CPI at 2.5% YoY vs. 2.6%. MoM prints were in line with consensus, and shelter remained the primary driver of inflation.
Inflation cooled modestly, trimming the market-implied odds of a Sep hike and pulling UST yields lower. However, with core inflation still well above the 2% target, the Fed’s tightening bias remains, and near-term valuation pressure on growth stocks eased only at the margin.2) MSCI released its quarterly index review for Aug 2026. $Apple(AAPL.US)
Apple has retreated a bit since its ATH on 29th July which (no surprises here!) was also the day high beta tech ‘bottomed’.
I had mentioned how Apple being defensive tech and a huge market cap made it convenient for funds to ‘park’ their capital while waiting for high beta tech to bottomed. Some of that money has rotated into high beta tech again it seems and as momentum picks up, it looks like high beta tech is just starting its engine again after a good rest.

$Apple(AAPL.US)Apple feels increasingly like a stock investors almost have to keep on the radar rather than a pure momentum trade. Higher hardware costs could clearly pressure margins and earnings expectations, especially if component prices continue rising. But trying to pinpoint the exact bottom may be harder than simply watching how expectations evolve. For me, the more interesting setup is whether the market has already priced in most of the margin pressure. If so, a gradual approach makes more sense than waiting for one perfect entry point. The key is whether Apple can maintain its ecosystem advantage while navigating higher costs and weaker hardware economics.

Fellow investor @qwq built a fully autonomous AI trading Agent called "Flint" in his spare time: Claude decides whether to act, code handles risk control and order placement, and the whole thing runs unattended on a single Mac mini. In July it completed 69 trades; of 124 intents, 31 were blocked by its own risk gate. Paper-trading return: about 3%.
