Global capital is flooding into emerging markets, with the South Korean stock market becoming the most dazzling star under the AI wave! On February 26th, the KOSPI index continued its bull run, closing up 3.67% and breaking above the 6300-point mark for the first time in history. This marks the sixth consecutive day the index has hit a record high, with a cumulative gain of over 46% year-to-date, leading major global stock markets.
In terms of individual stocks, the semiconductor duo continues to act as the main engine of the rally. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix together now account for 35% of the total market value of the South Korean stock market, becoming the biggest contributors to KOSPI's breakthrough. The hot momentum of South Korean tech stocks has also spread to the Hong Kong market, with related concept ETFs dancing in sync. $XL2CSOPHYNIX(07709.HK) surged over 14% during the session today, while $XL2CSOPSMSN(07747.HK) also jumped over 15%.
Institutions generally believe that the AI-driven memory semiconductor supercycle is the core driver of this bull market. Nomura Securities' latest report significantly raised its KOSPI target for the first half of 2026 to 7500-8000 points, expecting memory semiconductor companies to contribute 64% of the entire market's net profit in 2026. Against the backdrop of a "weak dollar" and the global AI infrastructure boom, Asian tech markets, represented by South Korea, are set to be the main beneficiaries of global capital reallocation.
