Since entering the US stock market in May 2024, I've been exploring and losing money 💸. With a principal of 600,000, I've lost over 400,000 at most, a drop of more than 60% 📉. Breaking even felt hopeless. Those tough times, I believe, are the path every retail investor takes. That sense of defeat is also an unforgettable life experience. At that time, I was so deep in losses that I didn't even want to write my master's thesis, look for jobs during the fall or spring recruitment seasons, or operate my Douyin account 😮💨.
Now, I'm a young adult who has earned my first bucket of a million yuan, with a profit of 143%. From a loss of over 60% to a profit of 143%, it's essentially a more than 6-fold increase to earn that first million. I use this fact to prove to everyone: never, ever, ever lose your principal. Otherwise, breaking even is really hard. A 50% loss requires a 100% gain just to get back to even. A 67% loss requires a 200% gain just to recover the principal 🥲. Let alone making a profit; just breaking even requires a huge effort to double your money.
After truly earning a bit more than double, I've become increasingly calm as still water. The youthful spirit has faded, completely different from the competitive mindset during the loss period. I hold positions more calmly, no longer obsessively focusing on short-term doubling, and can also hold for the long term. Whether it's "realizing the past cannot be admonished, knowing the future can be pursued" or "wishing to buy osmanthus and share wine, but in the end, it's not like the travels of youth," I hope to rediscover my former self, full of endless curiosity and desire for the world! I believe good things will eventually happen 📝.
Let's encourage each other and make infinite progress together ⚡️ヽ (¯ω¯(¯ω¯〃) ゝ
