UNH Return RateNovice's US Stock Learning Notes 96
Flowing water doesn't compete to be first; it competes in being endless.
Today is the 30th, a good day for a summary. US stock account return is 8-%, domestic Alipay return is 10%. Last month's summary seems to have been slightly better than this, showing there's been some regression this month, hahaha, but I've adjusted my positions and am quite satisfied with myself, no need to be too harsh.
Longbridge can only sell, not buy. Going forward, unless there's a big rally to the lowest cost basis, there will be even fewer trades. Recently, I made some small swing trades on GLW and LITE on IB, with good returns, but I buy very, very little for swing trades, which can't offset the drop in my top holding, MSFT...
Looking back over half a year, the first principle is still that core positions should focus only on leaders. UNH is currently up 50%+, and I can recover even after enduring losses. At the same time, look at the small stocks I chased during the process: BMNR, PGY, Figma, CIicle—which one wasn't a disaster? I also lost several thousand USD on these, paying for knowledge. Control swing trading capital to within 5%, cash out promptly when profitable, accept losses when they occur, don't play games you can't afford to lose.
The second principle is position sizing. Running a 'supermarket' of stocks to the point where you don't dare to add to what you should and can't bear to cut what you should are major pitfalls that affect returns. But this can't be rushed; flowing water doesn't compete to be first, take it slow.
The red line is no options and no shorting. The recently popular 'Byte Boss Bao' infiltrated the 'Bao-fett' group. The 玩法 of 末日 options is truly terrifying, and one has to admit it takes skill, courage, and luck. But not everyone has that level of skill and luck. I always think if you're not skilled enough, just watch, don't gamble. If I can maintain a 10% annualized return, I'll give myself an award.
Core holdings: UNH, META, MSFT, GOOG, NVDA, QQQ, SPY, BRKB. For the long term, dare to add on dips and reduce on rallies. For the short term, watch GLW, LITE, SNDK, MU, AVGO. The most important thing in short-term trading is not to chase highs, be patient. Making money also depends on fate; if you can't make it, let it go.
Domestically, only buy ETFs. Future plan: Zhi, 70% QD (mainly regular investment), 10% bond funds (for stability and flexibility), 10% chasing hot sectors (don't fight the trend, chase what's hot, know when to quit), 10% broad-based dividend funds etc. (buy this when there's nothing else); Juan, 20%-515880, 20%-159915, 20%-588200, 10%-159363, 10%-518880, 10%-515080, 10%-512290, adjust positions slowly.
