Even with better-than-expected results, it still fell. Take $Micron Tech(MU.US)$ASML(ASML.US) as examples; their positive earnings reports can no longer lift the sector, and they can't even serve as a reason for their own stock price to rise. Conversely, negative news from individual stocks can spread and drag down the entire sector. Frankly, it's because the short-term gains have been too high. Just ask yourself: if you, like institutions during the 5-6 portfolio rebalancing season, have already reduced positions at highs or taken profits, would you be willing to buy back in without a significant pullback? 🤔
Is there a feeling that the financial reports of hardware companies this quarter are in a similar situation to those of software companies last quarter.
You can't just drop because you didn't massively exceed expectations.....
But if expectations were already high, then massively exceeding them becomes a low-probability event.
