Options$Alphabet - C(GOOG.US) @$Microsoft(MSFT.US)@$NVIDIA(NVDA.US) Let's review the rollercoaster of June and July.
At the beginning of June, I held Microsoft and TSLA. When Microsoft surged to 466, I didn't sell my shares; instead, I sold 270105 long calls, with a target price for the underlying stock above 500. At that time, due to the AI PC synergy, both TSLA and Microsoft surged, pushing my account return rate to a new high for the year. However, when Softbank (referred to as 'Softzi') and TSLA plummeted rapidly, thinking I could quickly break even, I kept adding to my options positions, specifically the 270105 calls for Microsoft and TSLA. I averaged down at the halfway point, and the prices kept falling until June 26th. After Softbank broke below the 355 support level intraday, my 心态 exploded, and I cut all my 270105 calls at the bottom. Even when it rebounded later, I didn't dare to go heavy again; I only did small, quick in-and-out trades. It wasn't until after the July earnings report that we returned to previous highs. I watched helplessly as the stock price went back to 460. This is the classic "cutting meat at the bottom after losing one's mind." During this period, TSLA's calls also didn't return to previous highs, so I stopped loss and cleared them around 210. Before the July earnings, when Google surged to 374, I added to my 270105 calls, but they continued to fall. I kept averaging down at the bottom, getting trapped until yesterday when I finally surfaced. After clearing out, my entire account finally broke even.
Self-summary of these two months' rollercoaster operations:
1. Options should not be used as a regular short-term trading tool; it's a double-edged sword, where profits and losses come from the same source.
2. Never add options when the stock price is surging. Better to miss out than to get burned. Only consider adding in batches after the stock inexplicably crashes hard and stabilizes. Use attached self-damage conditional orders and don't fight against the market.
3. If you get trapped and have ample time, you shouldn't cut losses at the bottom. As long as the fundamentals haven't changed, buying US stocks requires a bit of faith. The market rewards those who dare to hold.
Finally, my operations in the last few days of July were basically correct. Although I didn't earn much during those good days, I recovered most of the losses from June. My YTD returns are basically back to positive. Regarding the two earnings reports yesterday, my predictions of Apple crashing and Amazon surging were correct. I bought puts and double-long positions respectively, making a small profit. I also picked up some Apple shares at 300.5. My recent operations have been quite good. Let's keep going in August. Fighting!
