$Apple(AAPL.US) just unveiled its first touchscreen Mac ever

The new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display starts at $2,899 for the 14-inch and $3,399 for the 16-inch

That's $400 more than the current M5 Pro MacBook Pro and $900 above the new M6 model

It brings the first OLED screen, the first touch input and the Dynamic Island to the Mac, with up to 2,000 nits of brightness and up to 24 hours of battery life

It runs on M5 Pro and M5 Max with up to 128GB of memory and 16TB of storage

Preorders open today, shipping starts November 6

$Apple(AAPL.US) is down about 0.4% on the day, trading near $346

Apple held off on a touchscreen Mac for years, and putting it on its priciest laptop first says the bet is on margin over volume, and a holiday-quarter launch at nearly $3,000 is a real test of how much premium pros will still pay

We're in the early stages of a multi year Mac super cycle.

This morning, $Apple(AAPL.US) announced some Mac updates, including 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac models (M6 chips). Still waiting on the first touchscreen Mac announcement later this morning.

Pricing is unchanged today. Keep in mind that late in June they raised the price of the MacBook by 18% and the iMac by 16%.

My take: There is upside to the Mac over the next two years. Mac has gone from 8.6% of revenue in June 2025 to 9.5% in June 2026. Last quarter it grew 29%. The Street is expecting 12% y/y in Sep ’26, going to 6% growth in FY27 and FY28.

Most important: I believe we are in the early stages of a multi-year AI-powered hardware upgrade cycle. Consumers and businesses will need to buy new hardware, even at higher prices, to fully leverage AI. That’s good for Mac growth. I expect FY27 Mac to grow above 10% (Street at 6%) and FY28 above 10% (Street at 6%).

Pretty wild that Apple has spent basically 20 years telling us that touch-screen laptops are horrible due to ergonomics/arm fatigue and they are going to do it anyways tomorrow -- and not address the problem they proclaimed exists whatsoever. Either way I am pumped.

I spent the weekend pushing the new Siri and am happy to report it's leap forward.

But once you've used personal agents, you ask Siri to do things it can't.

That begs the question; Which is harder to copy: Apple's ecosystem or a great personal agent? I used to think the ecosystem. Now I'm not so sure.

$Apple(AAPL.US) reports next Monday. The most important topic is the shifting AI goal posts.

In June the conversations was around was when will the new Siri come out.

Now it's what's their answer to Muse, Grok Bot and Dots.

Tech giants are pouring billions into AI infrastructure while short-term supply bottlenecks trigger aggressive profit-taking. While the broader market sentiment feels jittery, strong cash generators like Apple show that investors are prioritizing stability over speculative AI spending for now.

Final thought going into Duo’s launch tomorrow. Don’t read too much into tomorrow because of supply noise. I still expect they’ll sell 20M units in FY27 vs. Street at around 10M.

My guess is each store will have a dozen on hand. I’ll be at a store to confirm.Lead times still showing late January, unchanged from last week.

If it’s true that each store only gets a handful, many investors will discount the positive read on long online lead times over the past week, attributing them to tight supply.

My read is supply is crazy tight today, but in January it will be much better. They quickly pushed preorders to late January and have held there, which tells me a big ramp is planned. $Apple(AAPL.US)

$Apple(AAPL.US) is the only Magnificent 7 stock in the green today, and it is trading above its record close

Shares are up about 0.7% near $346, above Wednesday's all-time closing high of $343.99, per Yahoo Finance data

Every other member is red. $Meta Platforms(META.US) is down 8%, $Amazon(AMZN.US) 5%, $NVIDIA(NVDA.US) 4.4%, $Alphabet(GOOGL.US) 3.4%, $Tesla(TSLA.US) 2.6% and $Microsoft(MSFT.US) 2.1%

The Nasdaq 100 is down 3%, on pace for its worst day since June

Per Yahoo Finance, $Apple(AAPL.US), $Eli Lilly(LLY.US) and $Walmart(WMT.US) have added more than $400 billion in market value since chip stocks peaked in early October, while $Meta Platforms(META.US), $Alphabet(GOOGL.US) and $SpaceX(SPCX.US) have lost nearly twice that

The dividing line is AI spending. $Meta Platforms(META.US) just narrowed its capex plan to $135 billion to $145 billion and created a new class of nonvoting shares it can sell to raise money

For two years the knock on $Apple(AAPL.US) was that it was behind in AI. Now that the bill for the buildout is coming due, not spending $100 billion+ a year on data centers is starting to look like the feature, and Apple has become where money hides inside Big Tech

$Apple(AAPL.US)

Context: For being late to join the AI bandwagon, Apple actually saves itself from the recent AI stock rout since it has not spent too much on AI build up. However it sales for Iphone 18 dropped, it China you no longer need to wait to get a Iphone Pro or Pro Max compared to last year where you need to wait 6 to 25 days for Iphone 17 Pro and Pro Max at that time. But Iphone Duo is saving Apple and the wait time in China is now 90 days.

My trade: neutral on Apple stock

Takeaway: sometimes being late is better than being early. But while Apple can count its blessings, the AI world will still punish Apple if it can't catch up. Apple is chasing hard, they are partnering with Google, Meta and Openai, let sit back and watch. $NVIDIA(NVDA.US)$Intel(INTC.US)$Netflix(NFLX.US)

$Apple(AAPL.US)

Post 3 Ep. 25

Context: What has caught my attention recently is the extraordinary initial response to Apple’s new foldable iPhone Duo. With prices starting at US$1,999 and preorder delivery estimates already stretching into January, Apple may have found a way to breathe new life into a mature smartphone market. The interesting part isn’t simply the folding screen, but the possibility of establishing an entirely new premium tier above its existing Pro models.

My trade: I’m increasingly interested in Apple’s ability to grow revenue through higher-value products rather than relying purely on selling more devices. If the Duo gains sustained traction, it could lift average selling prices and create another meaningful growth opportunity. Of course, early preorder enthusiasm doesn’t necessarily guarantee long-term success, especially with production constraints and manufacturing costs still important considerations.

Takeaway: Sometimes growth doesn’t require finding millions of new customers. It comes from giving existing customers a compelling reason to spend more. Apple’s next opportunity may not be about winning the smartphone volume race, but about expanding what consumers are willing to pay for a truly differentiated experience.
