Context: U.S. stocks surged today after the Federal Reserve raised interest rates, reaffirming its focus on taming inflation and removing a long-standing source of market anxiety. With the rate hike behind them, investors returned to their favorite themes. Tech shares gained, with Alphabet and Meta rising more than 1% each before the bell. Understandably, memory and data center stocks are also on the rise, some even going above +5%.

My Trade: I have been invested in SPMO since last year and for me, this is the slightly riskier but better returns of the top momentum S&P stocks. I am also waiting to see what additions/cuts there will be in the upcoming reshuffle.

Takeaway: The rate policy decision will be crucial in determining investor sentiment in the second half of September, historically a weak month for equities. So far this month, the benchmark S&P 500 has lost 1.7%. UBER is trading around $70.97, down significantly from its 52-week and all-time high of $101.99. This dip is primarily driven by recent workforce restructurings and large corporate senior note offerings. However, the long-term runway remains strong as Uber secures robotaxi partnerships across Europe and integrates Alphabet’s autonomous vehicle tech into its grid.

My trade

Buy shares of UBER at the current market price of $70.97. The market is mispricing Uber by evaluating it like a volatile tech stock rather than a mature logistics platform. At 15.6x earnings, we are getting a company growing revenue at over 16% YoY at a massive value discount. Set a stop-loss at $64.00, just below its strong 52-week technical support floor of $65.41.

Takeaway

Uber has built an irreplaceable, high-margin structural moat. Fears regarding autonomous vehicle disruption ignore the reality that AV networks need Uber’s dispatch layer and demand density to achieve profitability. With $9.8 billion in annual free cash flow on the books, any macroeconomic or structural dip provides an exceptional, low-risk accumulation window for long-term investors.
