As you can see, I transferred 7,000 and received 7,000—no fees were deducted in the middle.
I also checked the transaction details in both the Bank of China (Mainland) and Bank of China (Hong Kong) apps and found no service charges.
2. Conclusion
This time, I transferred from Bank of China (Mainland) to Bank of China (Hong Kong) without any fees—pretty sweet.
The process involves four potential fees:
Service fee: Definitely 0
Telegraphic fee: Definitely 0
Cash-to-spot exchange difference: Definitely 0
Intermediary fee: Most likely 0, but occasionally charged
Some people online claim they were charged intermediary fees when transferring from Bank of China (Mainland) to Bank of China (Hong Kong). If that happens, it's probably the intermediary fee.
From my friends and online posts, most people report zero fees for such transfers.
I made the transfer around 10:00 PM on March 23, and the Hong Kong card received the funds by 2:30 PM on March 24—pretty fast, just one day.
