Commemorative2025 Investment Summary

Personal investment record — as of 2025.12.31
This month, I cleared all indices except for the Nasdaq Index. Although I'm still a bit conflicted—after all, $iShares US Tech(IYW.US) is what I consider the best index ETF—I thought about it and decided that, to align with my identity as a mainland investor, I probably won’t allocate much money to overseas brokers in the future. Recently, I’ve also been concerned about U.S. estate tax issues (since I’ll graduate and start working next year, my investment amount will increase significantly). Additionally, I don’t want to invest solely in the tech sector, so I’ve decided to focus only on the Nasdaq Index going forward. Of course, the most important thing is that I’m a long-term index investor with no habit of short-term trading, so my need for overseas brokers is minimal. I might shift more attention to Nasdaq Index ETFs listed in Hong Kong and mainland China, such as $CAM NASDAQ100(03086.HK) and $ISHARESND100(02834.HK), as well as the 12 domestic Nasdaq Index ETFs.
As for BTC, I’m taking it one step at a time. The investment cost only accounts for 5.42% of my total cost, and the current market value is 3.57%. I’ll continue dollar-cost averaging at 5% of the cost. If the market value reaches 10% in the future, I’ll rebalance to maintain a Nasdaq:BTC ratio of 95:5. This is more of a trial, and I might even liquidate BTC in the future to go all-in on the Nasdaq Index.
In December, I lost 1.29%, bringing my overall return for 2025 to 28.93%. This was mainly due to mediocre stock market performance in November and December, coupled with a decline in the USD/CNY exchange rate. My highest return in 2025 was over 34%, achieved in October.
I hope the U.S. stock market continues to rise in 2026. I’ll focus more on self-improvement, such as fitness and reading, since investment success relies heavily on time. I’ve backtested the Nasdaq Index’s performance: over 10 years, the returns from the first 7 years equaled those of the last 3 years, so time is the most critical factor in investing.
Here are some backtested data and personal insights for reference:
① With 3% inflation, currency value halves every 25 years.
② The Nasdaq 100 Index doubles every 5-7 years and grows tenfold in 15-20 years. I believe technological advancements will accelerate this growth.
③ Investing in the Nasdaq 100 Index isn’t just about tech—it’s about investing in nearly the world’s top 100 companies, societal progress, and human advancement.
Finally, I’m deeply grateful to Silicon Valley 居士 and CLEC’s Teacher James, who gave me a new perspective on index investing and enriched my life with hope. I also thank everyone I’ve met online. May our future investments sail smoothly and bring us financial freedom sooner!
