    Expert Takeaways: Meta's Optical Demand

    > Meta signed a $6B deal with Corning for MPO fiber cables to power its next-gen AI data center infrastructure.

    > Zhongji, Eoptolink, and Cohr lead Meta’s optical supply chain, with new entrants Dongshan, Cambridge, and Lumentum gaining share across 800G & 1.6T.

    > Low risk of a full FCC ban, but if hit, Meta plans to buffer 6+ months of optical inventory and pull forward CPO adoption by 6–12 months.

    > Meta shifts to NPO starting 2027 (85% non-optical port mix) before fully scaling Co-Packaged Optics (CPO) around 2029–2030.

    > Broadcom powers Meta's NPO silicon photonics platform, with Cohr, Zhongji, Eoptolink, Lumentum, and Dongshan supplying optical engines.

It's good to finally see some food news for alibaba, it has been in the down trend for months. The company is also laying off roughly 30% of its workforce. Hopefully the trend will reverse!

The optical Comms and memory sector appears to be the market darling now after Anthropic sparked the Saaspocalypse which swept through multiple sectors, it seems that the above 2 belong to the physical layer and would not be susceptible to another narrative of AI killing [you name it].

Wonder how many analysts will now revise away their 6000/oz projection fir gold for year end? The risks of global recession are growing bigger with each day Iran bombs its neighborhood oil facilities. The drag is making poor every one, not to mention the ecological damage. Silver and other metals are suffering. Only the factories are rejoicing.

Several semiconductor/optical companies had a rough night, with Tianyue Advanced and Innoscience continuing to fall. It seems the semiconductor sector hasn't fully heated up yet, but the faithful fans are holding strong. On the other hand, Sunny Optical's profit alert + buyback this round is truly enviable—the FOMO feels so real. I'm basically just passively watching Cambridge Technology's paper gains now, hoping the AI sector can show some strength. As for Foxconn Interconnect Technology's insider selling—utterly ridiculous. Working folks are exhausted.
