Indonesia has been giving headache to Wilmar again. In May, they were accused of under invoicing as much as 50% by the government. Later Kalimantan faced with decreased rain fall in Kalimantan resulting in lower yield of palm oil. Kalimantan has 80% of Wilmar oil palm plantation. The short fall will benefit Indonesia palm oil competitor like Malaysia. However, revenue for 2026H1 was still good at US$38.6 billion and profit before tax was up 13% YOY amounting to US$1.06 billion.$Wilmar(F34.SG)$NVIDIA(NVDA.US)$Netflix(NFLX.US)
The quarterly earnings season has been in full swing over the past week. Despite similar performance, it's a world apart from July.
This week, the focus is on Thursday's FOMC meeting. We've noticed the 10-year US Treasury yield oscillating at high levels and could break out upward at any moment.
This is a risk factor.

Sea just jumped 15% on Aug 11 because of a superb Q2 revenue which is US$7.79 billion, exceeding analyst expectation. It was a fantastic recovery from a disappointing Q4Y25 on Mar which make this stock sank by 23%. But looking ahead, Sea need to overcame fierce competition from PDD Holdings who is handling Temu and Pinduoduo ecommerce platform. They are aggressively selling goods directly from manufacture and offer free international shipping even for very low value item. But PDD share is also suffering with a drop of 17% YTD. Consumer will be cheering when they fight but their stock will suffer.$NVIDIA(NVDA.US)$Netflix(NFLX.US)
$Netflix(NFLX.US) Netflix jumped approximately 3% after Bill Ackman revealed he was back in the stock. Ackman bought Netflix during the brutal 2022 selloff, then dumped the position months later at a loss. Now he is taking another swing after Netflix crashed roughly 50% from its June 2025 high. The difference? Netflix today is a much stronger cash machine than the company Ackman walked away from four years ago. Netflix has more than 325 million subscribers, nearly twice Disney+ and HBO Max combined. But subscriber count is no longer the most interesting number. Margins are. Netflix's operating margin has climbed from 21% in 2021 to roughly 31.5%, while annual cash content spending has increased only around 2%. That is serious operating leverage. Advertising revenue is also closing in on $3 billion this year, opening another monetization engine on top of subscriptions. Netflix does not need explosive subscriber growth anymore. It needs to keep extracting more dollars from the audience it already owns. @Captain's Treasure
Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz continue to escalate, with shipping traffic at a three-month low and conflicting signals from both sides regarding an end to the conflict; oil prices still fell 2.1% to $87.07.
Gold saw slight gains, while the US dollar remained weak.
The situation is not optimistic; hold some cash and keep safe-haven precious metals on hand for emergencies.

The overall market is taking the inflation numbers in its stride and liking it. Price action leans bullish and the number of bears still being around and vocal gives it an even more bullish nuance.

Reddit is joining the S&P500 finally after months of being on the potential list. The stock gained double digits as investors take in the news positively. On other news, superinvestor Bill Ackman opened his position on Netflix once more, stating that Netflix "has won the streaming wars" and is currently undervalued following his exit in the company years back.

With CPI and PPI out of the way, it is back to earnings for the remaining companies. Interesting to see if there will be a pullback from all time highs or we go higher from here.

The market reaction reflects a combination of index-related demand and improving macro sentiment. Reddit’s S&P 500 inclusion could support near-term institutional buying, although valuation and user-growth risks remain. Softer-than-expected PPI reduced concerns about renewed Fed tightening and supported record equity levels, though underlying inflation remains above target. Meanwhile, Ackman’s Netflix investment provides a positive sentiment catalyst and signals renewed confidence in its long-term earnings potential after his earlier exit.

I still like Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (SGX: BS6) fundamentally, but at today’s ~S$4.66 I would not chase it with a large purchase. The price has moved very quickly after the excellent 1H26 results. As of 10:51am today, it was around S$4.66, already close to its recent high.

Norway's Sovereign Wealth Fund's just got US$184.3 Billion richer driven mainly by technology stock. It held 1.28% stake worth US$62 billion in Nvidia, a 1.24% stake worth US$52 billion in Apple, a 1.17% stake worth US$50 billion in Alphabet, a 1.27% stake worth US$35 billion in Microsoft and a 1.7% stake worth US$34 billion in Taiwan's TSMC. This was their largest gain ever. Like wise, Singapore's Sovereign Fund's, Temasek just invested into Sk Hynix and Samsung after both of the stock having endure a bitter sell off since July. However Norway Sovereign Wealth Fund's do caution against having a 20% high of technology stocks in it's portfolio arguing that any economic volatility will easily erased all it's gain. Is technology stocks exposure too great in your portfolio, mine surely is and it due time to either cash out or diversify.
BILL ACKMAN IS BACK IN NETFLIX.
He first invested in $Netflix(NFLX.US) back in 2022 at around $350 a share. $1.1B in.He sold it for a 40% loss after a few months, losing $400M. He took that money and put it into Google, which did well, but during the same time, Netflix went up 650% from the lows. At the time, he said the lesson he learned from that experience was that he felt better about trusting his intuition and making decisions regardless of the outcome. The stock is now down down 50% and he’s back in, his logic below:“Looking forward, we expect Netflix to compound revenue at a double-digit growth rate, with content costs growing more slowly than revenue driving continued margin expansion. Combined with a robust buyback program, we estimate earnings should compound at close to 20% annually. We believe the company's current valuation multiple represents a substantial discount for a business with such a strong growth profile and dominant market position.”Source: amit
$Netflix(NFLX.US) In the first half of this year, Netflix delivered two numbers that do not quite match: combined revenue for the first two quarters was approximately $24.81 billion, up 14.7% year-over-year; during the same period, member viewing exceeded 97 billion hours, but grew by only 2%. A rough calculation dividing total revenue by total viewing hours shows that Netflix's "revenue per hour" increased by about 12.5%. Users didn't watch much more than last year, but the money Netflix collected from every hour of viewing increased noticeably. In 2025, Netflix's revenue grew by 16%, its operating margin rose from 26.7% to 29.5%, and paid memberships surpassed 325 million. For 2026, the company expects revenue to grow by 13% to 14%, operating margin to rise to 31.5%, and full-year operating profit to grow by more than 20%. Second-quarter revenue grew by 13.4%, and third-quarter guidance slowed further to 11.7%. This is not a recession. Netflix is simply stepping out of rapid user expansion into a mature growth stage: revenue growth is stepping down, but profits are still growing faster. And that's why I'm not panicking. The market is sleeping on Netflix. Yes, there are more and more platforms offering the same services as Netflix, but Netflix remain the leader in its industry and the data still supports that. @Captain's Treasure
Nvidia has been spending big, investing in it's customers, below are just the notable one:
1. Intel: $5 billion on September 18, 2025
2. CoreWeave: $2 billion in January 2026
3. Marvell Technology: $2 billion on March 31, 2026.
With a massive free cash in Nvidia pocket, year 2025 at ~$43.21 billion and year to date at $62.56 billion, they surely can spend. On the surface it looks like Nvidia is trying to strengthen the AI ecosystem. Others argue that Nvidia is engaging in a circular economy where money is just changing within themselves and the only thing expanding is AI bubble but not the economy.$NVIDIA(NVDA.US)$Netflix(NFLX.US)
