Question from the call on Robotaxi rollout: What milestones are you looking for to increase the pace of rollout?
Elon said the economics will be "so compelling" and "demand will outstrip supply". Elon says the hold up on getting more aggressive at the rollout is the march of nines. That is does 99.9% safe enough or 99.99999%.He is saying he wants more data on the safety. They have 380k miles. $Tesla(TSLA.US) (-3% AH) after missing on auto gross margins ex-reg credits (16.3% vs 18.4%) which drove huge miss in non-gaap eps ($.33 vs $.55 WS est). CapExp of $5.8B caused free cash flow to go negative -$1.1B, which was expected. On the positive side, active FSD subs of 1.48M was 16% QoQ vs 1Q (+63% annualized) and the 2Q attachement rate of FSD to North American deliveries was a record 55%. Optimus production is still scheduled to begin late-2026.
Conf call at 530ET. Investors most want to hear how quickly unsupervised autonomy without safety monitors (currently 40 TSLA vehicles vs Waymo 3,500 vehicles) can scale.
$Super Micro Computer(SMCI.US) Smci jumped higher, fueled by a robust update that it expects to nearly double its gross margins in upcoming quarters. The company highlighted a staggering new order intake of more than $60 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, pushing its backlog to an all-time high. Such volume underscores strong demand for Supermicro's customized server solutions amid the ongoing AI hardware surge. Smci's servers integrate chips from industry heavyweights like Nvidia, Intel, and AMD. The company recently teased big projects, including a new gigawatt-scale AI data center for SpaceX and XAI, highlighting its role in powering next-generation AI infrastructure. I wouldn't call this a rebound, especially for memory stocks as they continue to fluctuate at least 5% everyday. SG stocks continue to edge higher despite a mini slide during open, with bank stocks creating new highs by the end of the day. Google and Tesla earnings are also probably the highlights post bell tonight, so let's see what surprises they can bring.

Unsure whether TSLA can reclaim the spotlight though I believe they can if they have more enough support. For GOOGL to turn AI expectations into earnings momentum will depend on the public. INTC maybe can surprise the market if there are uniqueness and caters to the public.

Three major earnings reports this week. Just 48 hours apart. Tesla and Alphabet Inc. report after the US market closes on Wednesday, followed by Intel on Thursday.
$Tesla(TSLA.US) earnings tonight. Here's the cheat sheet:
1. Auto Margins ex Credits: I expect auto gross margin ex-credits to be slightly above the Street's 18.5% because volumes were so strong. It was 19.2% in March. In theory, it should be flat quarter over quarter.2. Deliveries: Key question is what drove the surge in June deliveries, up 25% y/y compared to up 6% in March? I believe high gas prices is a sustainable tailwind.3. Capex. Here’s the negative wildcard. Last quarter, when the company guided capex to increase this year from $20B to $25B, it triggered a sell-off in after-hours trading, underscoring that the topic matters. I expect the company to guide to a number above $25B this year and give hints that 2027 should be above the Street’s $21B level.4. Robotaxi. In July they added 3 cities and now operate small fleets in 7 cities. They’ve said two more cities coming, Las Vegas and Phoenix. I expect 3 more by year end, getting us to 10 in total. Street is expecting 2-3 more this year.5. FSD. In March active paid subs grew 51% YY to 1.28m. In June I expect growth of 40%. The strong June delivery number should result in an acceleration in active sub growth in September because sales in the US come with one month free that acts as a top of funnel. FSD is approved in the Netherlands (April) and waiting for approval in the EU and China.6. Cybercab: I expect Elon to move the target for production ramp from late 2026 to first half of 2027. My take: Investors are already expecting the slip.7. Optimus. I’m not expecting much substance. Long term, 2040, this should be more than half of sales.Toy department: SpaceX acquiring Tesla: We won’t get anything tonight on the topic. About 77 S&P 500 constituents are scheduled to report this week, putting the market's direction entirely in the hands of earnings. The peak moment of the week is tonight, with Google and Tesla reporting after hours on Wednesday (July 22) ET. Tech stocks have already pulled back last week, and prices have already priced in that a "beat" is the standard expectation. An earnings beat doesn't necessarily mean the stock will rise; only an upward revision of guidance (raise) provides real catalyst.

I am cautiously bullish on Tesla heading into earnings. The company delivered 480,126 vehicles during Q2 and deployed a record 13.5 GWh of energy-storage products, giving it stronger operating momentum entering the report.
My thesis is that higher vehicle volumes and the rapidly expanding energy business can support revenue growth and improve factory utilisation. However, deliveries alone are not enough. I will be watching automotive gross margin, free cash flow and whether spending on robotaxi and AI initiatives is producing measurable progress.
Weak margins or excessive cash burn would invalidate the near-term bull case.
