But there is one more thing…

$Apple(AAPL.US)The market has become much less forgiving toward companies with negative free cash flow. AI leaders can still deliver impressive revenue growth, but investors are clearly rewarding stability and consistent cash generation over ambitious spending.
I’ve been steadily dollar-cost averaging into Apple. It may not have the most exciting growth story right now, but its resilient business model and predictable cash flow make it a solid core position. Rather than trying to catch the perfect bottom, I’m building the position gradually as sentiment stays cautious.
This reminded me that protecting downside matters just as much as chasing upside. In a higher-rate environment, I’d rather accumulate quality businesses patiently than wait for one “perfect” entry that may never come.

0825 | Dolphin Research Focus: Macro/Industry — 1) The U.S. Treasury Secretary said on Mon (local time) that a new round of long-bond buybacks will be executed on Sep 9, and the tool will remain active. The operations will cover 10–30Y USTs to address the recent spike in long-end yields.
This signals direct Treasury intervention at the long end, offering a short-term sentiment backstop for USTs. However, markets worry about the funding source for buybacks given a swollen fiscal deficit. If the effect is limited, long-end rates still face upside, which would keep a lid on global equity valuations...The memory sector got hit super hard last night after reports of Trump may allow Apple to source from Chinese companies instead. This comes after rumours that memory prices may start to come down from end of the year to next, prompting some to start locking in profits early. Hardware chip companies also have been falling for the past few trading days, so let's see how the situation unfolds

The news of brand-new Xring O3 chip built by TSMC , officially announced by Xiaomi, on the advanced 3nm process for its upcoming flagship foldable phone means that Xiaomi will be less reliant on Qualcomm.
Xiaomi will also has the fuller control over premium performance and becomes a true silicon competitor to Apple and Samsung. I see it as a great news for Xiaomi! 🎉
On the other hand, Gold has touched $4,700! Many traders are pricing in a dovish tone from Kevin Warsh. This means that rates may stay on hold or even head lower ahead of the US midterm elections 😆.
₿ Bitcoin hit $81.2K this morning! Some forecasts say $100K is coming soon. But my personal view: don’t chase it. Let the market breathe first. Patience pays! 🧘😊

NVIDIA fell for the 7th consecutive trading day, closing down 2.91% at $208.48, marking its longest losing streak since 2022 with a cumulative drop of over 7%. This could be an opportunity to enter the market.
If Apple sources memory chips from Chinese suppliers next year, the memory chip sector will likely face further declines, dragging down AI training chips as well.
This would have a significant impact on the entire tech sector.

NVIDIA’s seven-session decline reflects rising caution ahead of earnings, with investors weighing strong AI demand against higher memory-driven server costs. Reported price increases above 15% could pressure customers and raise questions about AI infrastructure spending, even if demand remains robust. The broader memory-stock selloff adds sector-wide pressure, while potential U.S. policy changes on Apple’s sourcing could further alter competitive dynamics. Earnings guidance will likely determine whether the recent weakness proves temporary or signals broader concerns.

It will be interesting to see if US-Canada trade war ends up being just a negotiation tactic. It’s not the first time the Trump administration has done this.

The Tim Cook era is now officially coming to an end as John Ternus prepares to fully take over the reins from next month onwards. I will also be watching closely our SG CPI for July as SG continues to be scrutinised by the Trump administration; first the higher tariffs then afterwards Trump's accusation of SG forced labour in supply.

The tariff escalation increases the risk of a broader US-Canada trade conflict, raising costs for businesses and potentially adding inflationary pressure. Canada’s planned retaliation could further disrupt cross-border supply chains and weaken business confidence. The immediate market reaction reflects higher uncertainty, particularly as rising Treasury yields already pressure equity valuations. While the affected goods represent a relatively small share of total bilateral trade, prolonged tensions could weigh on growth, corporate margins and investor sentiment if negotiations remain stalled.
